What is Pastoral Counseling?
Pastoral Counseling seeks to address one’s emotional concerns, while respecting a person’s spiritual, religious, secular, and social traditions. It is not unlike other modes of therapy regarding the therapeutic process. What makes it unique is the integration of psychological, theological and spiritual concepts to promote healing, growth and wholeness.
Pastoral counselors are certified mental health professionals who have had in-depth spiritual, religious and/or theological training. If the client does not choose to utilize spiritual or theological concepts in the therapeutic process, those preferences will be respected.
How much does counseling cost?
The cost is $80 per session. I do not accept insurance; however, if requested I will provide a statement that can be used to file for out-of network benefits. Such benefits are often similar to in-network benefits. This allows you to work with the practitioner of your choice.
How long does counseling take?
Sessions are scheduled for a 50-minute time period 1-4 times per month. Because each situation is different, it is important that you work with your therapist to develop a plan that is comfortable and beneficial to you.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
Counseling sessions need to be canceled 24 hours in advance in order to avoid being charged a cancellation fee. Please call or email me if you need to cancel a previously scheduled appointment.
